The newsletter is late this week because I went out. Out Out. The kind of out that requires two outfit changes, a hair brush and clean shoes, the latter being the hardest to come by in a season of constant rain. When we leave the island of Gartur, we try to look somewhat respectable - without an inch of mud clinging to the cuffs of our trousers. Despite my best efforts, I still find myself trailing little bits of Gartur’s finest topsoil wherever I go.
Totally agree that it’s actually quite nice to have a rest when the bad weather and long nights arrive, especially after the busyness of summer and early autumn harvests. It must have been so satisfying to get the last of those mushrooms in too - we’ve found loads of Ceps, field mushrooms and parasols this year but no hedgies (although it’s been such a good year for mushrooms that we suspect we just somehow missed them, or someone got there before us!).

The way you describe life on the farm is so dreamy ❤️
